What’s my favourite flavour bobon?
Now this is the question I get asked on a daily basis, and normally 3 or 4 times in a day. I never have a good answer to give (which I appologise if you are one who has recieved one of my pathetic answers). I normally say “well they’re all great” or “I don’t make things that I don’t like”. And both are true but they are often met with a dissappointed face.
Since opening the shop 15 months ago, I have learnt that even when people ask for a reccomendation they normally already know what they want. It’s like flipping a coin, it helps you decide and instantly you are either pleased with the outcome or disappointed with it. Therefore telling you what you really wanted. We have a list of various hot chocolates to choose from in the shop, the classic white, milk and dark chocolates and then a range of super special single origin chocs. All are great!! But not all are for everyone. My personal favourite is the classic dark, its a 54% dark chocolate and when steamed with the milk is the perfect, not too sweet but extra chocolatey hot drink. Yum yum! But if you have a real sweet tooth then this one is not for you, for you I would reccomend the classic white or the speciality caramelia. Caramelia is really something special, a milk chocolate made with caramalised white chocolate so you get milky caramelly tones of something oh so beautiful. My point being that there is not one choc that fits all tastes so when people ask me which one they should buy I feel stumped.
The same goes for the bonbons and which is my favourite flavour. Yes I may have a few faves but really truly honestly I love them all. They all have a different mood for me. Some days all I want is sweet white chocolate bonbon whereas others my daydreams are filled with something sexy and dark with levels of flavours and richness that a white just couldnt give you.
There are some flavours that I love and have found that the general public don’t love as much. For example….peppermint. This really is up there with one of the best for me, I could always be in the mood for a peppermint but they are not so popular in the shop. I often find that if you buy a mixed box or a ‘dealers choice’ as I like to call it, people are surprised at how much they like the peppermint chocolate, and if given the choice they wouldnt have chosen it themselves. The same goes for the lemon and lavendar bonbon, once someone has eaten it they will be back for more but most people wouldnt choose it to go in their selection box. I really find it facinating sometimes.
All in all I dont have a favourite. Right now I fancy a dark chocolate stem ginger bonbon but ask me in an hour I may be hankering over a sweet creme brulee! If you are unsure you can order the ‘chocolatires selection’ and you will get a real mix and soemthing for everyone! woop.
